About Us

Our programs and services are for children from infancy to adolescence. Our children come to us by referrals from parents, physicians, schools and other professionals in our area. The CTG staff are specially trained in working with children. We provide family oriented therapy with an emphasis on parent involvement.

CTG is a not-for-profit agency operated by a professional staff who believe in early intervention and are dedicated to helping all children reach their maximum potential for growth and development. Our staff is specialized in servicing the special needs of children. We specialize in Sensory Integration Therapy for children who are frightened or confused by the messages they get from their senses or don't process sensory input effectively. We serve any child with physical and mental limitations regardless of the severity such as:

*Sensory integration dysfunction
*Developmental delays
*Motor incoordination
*Speech and language delays
*Physical disabilities such as cerebral palsy
*Problems associated with learning disabilities, Autism, PDD and Asperger's Syndrome as well as many other diagnoses/conditions

Occupational Therapists


Sarah Banker, OTR/L - Director, Staff Therapist and Board Member


Sarah earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Therapy from the University of Kansas.  She joined the staff at Children's Therapy Group in 1989.  Sarah is certified in both Integrated Listening Systems (iLs) and Therapeutic Listening®.  She is certified in the administration and interpretation of the Sensory Integration and Praxis Tests (SIPT).  With over 22 years in the clinic setting, she has extensive experience and training specializing in sensory integrative therapy.  Sarah frequently provides consultation and training to area preschools and schools and also lectures about sensory processing to a variety of organizations and groups.  Sarah enjoys reading, music, gardening, and spending time with her family.


Susie Dyer, OTR/L - Staff Therapist and Board Member


Susie joined the staff at Children's Therapy Group in 1986.  She earned her Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy from the University of Kansas in 1984.  As an occupational therapist, she has also worked in the public schools, area preschools, charter schools, and home-based early intervention.  Susie is certified in Integrated Listening Systems (iLs).  She has over 28 years of experience and advanced training specializing in sensory integrative therapy.  Susie enjoys working with children of all ages and diagnoses to help them reach their potential.  In her spare time, Susie enjoys spending time with her family, including her granddaughter!


Jackie Thomas, MOT, OTR/L – Staff Therapist


Jackie earned a Master of Occupational Therapy degree from Rockhurst University with her undergraduate degree from Creighton University. Jackie is certified in Therapeutic Listening® and in the administration and interpretation of the Sensory Integration and Praxis Tests (SIPT). She joined the Children’s Therapy Group staff in 2013. She has over 19 years of experience in early intervention in home-based, center-based, and outpatient settings, and in the school system. She has experience and advanced training specializing in sensory integrative therapy, handwriting instruction, and feeding therapy. Jackie enjoys being active in her 3 sons lives by going to baseball and basketball games, being a part of their scouting and school, and traveling with them and her husband.



Speech-Language Pathologists


Anita Martin, MS, CCC-SLP - Staff Therapist


Anita earned a Master of Science degree in Speech and Language Pathology from Central Missouri State University with her undergraduate degree from the University of Iowa.  She worked in the public school system for 28½ years, 12 of which were with early childhood special education (3-5 year olds).  Anita joined the staff of Children's Therapy Group in 2003.  She has vast experience with sound production (phonological processing errors, articulation, Apraxia), general language development, auditory processing, Autism (language, sound production, social/pragmatic skills), auditory/language processing, stuttering / dysfluency and speech-language screenings.  She utilizes traditional as well as play therapy.  In her free time, Anita is active in church activities, enjoys reading, gardening and loves spending time with her husband and friends as well as her children and grandchildren who unfortunately live away from the Kansas City area.


Office Personnel


Cherie Long


Cherie began her career working in the banking industry.  She worked as a teller and in the bookkeeping department.  She began working as an administrative assistant in 1981.  Cherie joined the Children's Therapy Group staff in 1997.  Her current duties include office manager, administrative assistant, receptionist, accounting, and bookkeeping.  She handles the administrative support and office duties.  She provides support for all the staff and helps out with their administrative tasks.  She assists the clients and their families when needed.  Cherie has lived in Overland Park all her life.  She enjoys travel, the theatre, reading, and spending time with loved ones including her beloved pets.  She enjoys working at Children's Therapy Group and seeing all the children’s happy, smiling faces come through our doors.
